The Banana River SPS, now rebranded as America's Boating Club South Brevard, thanks all the participants and volunteers of the 2020 Christmas Boat Parade. It had a spectacular 170 boats of all types and sizes, many stunningly and imaginatively decorated, which would have been serious contenders for first place had they registered for the Best Decorated Boat Contest.

You can view the pictures on, which were taken by George Campbell, William Giers, Shari Marshall and William Wiley. Contact me at if you would like copies - please send the slide number.

You can also view a video of the parade at 1.5x speed taken by Robert Moore at the Grand Canal

We will greatly appreciate it if you would make a voluntary contribution, which will be applied to the 2021 Christmas Parade Program First Place Best Decorated Boat Awards (in 2020 $150.00 for each of the three categories) and hopefully the rental of signs advertising the Mathers Bridge closure to road traffic for extended periods. Donations can be made using PayPal or mailing to our Treasurer, Monika Bradley at 1799 Freedom Dr, Melbourne, FL 32940 payable to BRSPS.

"Some people are natural born seamen. You can tell that by the way they move on a small craft. Others are clod-hoppers, and I have nothing but admiration when these people eventually, patiently, turn themselves into Sailors. A good seaman, when he boards another vessel, has his eyes everywhere - at the comfort or lack of it, at the gadgets and fancy gear. But he's watching the rigging the deck fittings, the way the gear is stowed, the way the wires are spliced, and the lines coiled. Whatever he does, he is always learning."
Tristan Jones, One Hand for Yourself, One for the Ship
